A wall which bordered part of the former Garrison in Colchester has been removed.
Bovis Homes, which bought the land for a housing development, said the wall at the site of the former Cavalry Barracks in Butt Road was deemed unsafe due to weak foundations.
It added the wall would be replaced between the new homes using materials as close to the original as possible and original signs embedded in the wall would be reused along with the original capping.
