A public meeting is on the cards for a town debating having a bypass.

Recent High Street roadworks, due to last three months, have prompted Halstead residents to push for an answer to the town's traffic woes.

While there is a strong anti-bypass voice, Halstead Town Council is pro-bypass and Councillor Jackie Pell has proposed a public meeting so residents can have their say.

She could not attend council meeting on Thursday evening, but asked councillors to consider inviting speakers, such as Halstead MP Sir Alan Haselhurst, to address the public.
