A community warden scheme looks set to be revamped.

Three wardens started to pound the streets in March to make Clacton's Pier ward and Jaywick's Golf Green ward safer.

It hit trouble at the end of March when warden supervisor Sara Rundel was released from her post.

To add to the problems, one of the £15,000-a-year wardens is likely to to be off with a long-term sickness.

It has led to the Tendring Council-run Neighbourhood Interaction Partnership, which is responsible for dishing out £3.7 million in the areas, to review the team.

Wardens could also start to issue fines.

It had been agreed with the police, who bestowed the wardens with powers to issue fines, not to use enforcement in the early stages.

Wardens activities so far have included giving advice to 59 cyclists, making 63 visits to vulnerable people, reporting18 stray or dead animals, and reporting unlicensed or abandoned vehicles, graffiti and fly-tipping.
