THE ambulance and police service were not receiving some emergency 999 calls today.
Problems were reported at about 11am this morning, with the high volume of calls following heavy rain being blamed.
New emergency numbers were set up while experts worked to fix the lines.
An abulance service spokesperson said: "Our most important priority is making sure people are getting ambulances. Obviously any delay is not good enough."
The service has now returned to normal.
