A TRAIN boss from Colchester has been recognised for helping to make the railway line a safer place.
Greater Anglia’s head of safety, security and sustainability Jay Thompson finished runner-up in the Rail Safety Person of the Year category during the national RailStaff Awards.
The event was held in Coventry and celebrates the work of all those who help to run the UK’s railways.
Mr Thompson was nominated for helping to make Greater Anglia trains safe and for going above and beyond his duty.
Greater Anglia’s learning and development team went one step better than Mr Thompson as they were crowned winners of the Training Team of the Year award.
Jamie Burles, Greater Anglia’s managing director, said: “We are proud of our colleagues who were recognised at the RailStaff awards. Every day our teams work hard to make life a little easier for our customers and we are pleased their efforts have been rewarded.
“A lot of work happens behind the scenes to enable us to run a good train service, and we are thrilled our learning and development team were recognised at the ceremony.”
