A rapist has been sentenced to eight years in prison following a trial.

Alfie King, of Colchester Road, Halstead, was found guilty of rape last Friday following a trial at Norwich Crown Court.

The 22-year-old was sentenced on the same day and was given an eight-year prison term sentence.

King was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period.

The offence was committed on January 1 this year in Norwich.

The victim, who has life-long anonymity, was 16 years of age or older at the time of the attack.

King originally denied the charges, but was found guilty by a jury following a trial.

A spokesman for Norfolk Police said: “This sentence highlights that Norfolk Constabulary is committed to carrying out full and thorough investigations to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

“We have dedicated officers who are specially trained to undertake difficult and emotive investigations on a daily basis.

“We would urge anyone who has been abused or sexually assaulted to come forward, safe in the knowledge that the constabulary, together with our partners within child protection, will provide help and support, and do all we can to identify, charge and bring those responsible before the courts.”
