Emergency roadworks were put in place near the Miami Roundabout after a water pipe has burst and delays are still being caused a day later.

It was reported that water pipe had burst at around 3:34pm on Thursday September 21 and is currently causing delays in the area around the Miami Roundabout.

The roadworks are in place on Wood Street (B1007) and Princes Road (A114).

The roadworks are causing delays for shoppers using the nearby Tesco Superstore as well as nearby residents.

There is also congestion at the junction of Rainsford Lane (A1016) and Parkway (A138) as a result of the roadworks, and slow moving traffic between Robjohns Road and Writtle Road.

An Essex & Suffolk Water spokesman said:“We are currently on site repairing a burst water main on Wood Street in Chelmsford.

"Temporary traffic lights are currently in use on the road to ensure safety while repairs take place. We expect the repair to be completed this evening.

"Resurfacing work will then be required, and the traffic lights will stay in operation until this work has been fully completed.

"We would like to apologise for any disruption this is causing and thank people for their patience while carry out this work.”
