There are fears that abandoned rubbish could lead to a rat problem in a Clacton street.
Residents of Penfold Road are unhappy that bags of household waste are being left outside the former Warners Guest House, which has been converted into bedsits.
They say that the rubbish is put out all through the week, leading to seagulls and cats tearing the bags and leaving waste on the road.
Next-door neighbour, 69-year-old Nancy Duffus, said: "Our rubbish is collected every Monday but there are bags being left out all the time.
"It's disgusting - sometimes there's even dirty toilet paper there, and it gets strewn all over the road."
Landlord of Warners Guest House, Malik Aziz, said: "I have told the tenants that they should not put their rubbish out until the day before the lorries come.
"The problem should not arise again."
