A LARGE hay stack is on fire in Greenstead Green.
Fire crews from Braintree and Halstead were called to Burtons Green Road, Greenstead Green, this morning at around 1.24am.
Upon arrival firefighters found 60 tonnes of hay was alight.
Firefighters monitored the fire throughout the night to ensure it was burning safely under control.
At 7.30am this morning it was reported that the stack had reduced by half and there was approximately 30 tonnes of hay still curning.
The stack is expected to burn itself out by around 3.30pm.
One fire engine will remain at the scene until the stack is safe to be left.
