A BEAUTIFUL and colourful private garden will be open to the public this weekend.
60 Colchester Road in Great Totham will be opened to the public to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Hardy Plant Society. The majority of the proceeds will go to The Alzheimer’s Society.
Sue Jackman’s garden has borders large enough to get lost in and is themed with vibrant colours, whether they are caught in the blazing sun or hidden in the calming shade.
Her garden is planted with hundreds of unusual species and is intentionally designed to produce ravishing colours all year round. Particular highlights include a rock garden; spring and autumn bulbs; and a delightful rill (water channel) splashing down water-steps and into a calm circular pond, which is overlooked by a summerhouse nestled in a leafy glade.
Sue said: “I am delighted to open my garden to the public on behalf of The Hardy Plant Society and in aid of The Alzheimer’s Society. I am passionate about gardening. I hope that anyone who sees my garden will be inspired and encouraged to share that passion."
The gardens are open from 11am to 5pm on Sunday. Entry is £4.
