COLCHESTER singer/songwriter Polly Haynes is launching her latest album this weekend.
Self produced, written and recorded by Polly with the help of musicians Tom Eyers and Charlie Fisher, Live on Easter Sunday is available on all major platforms from today, June 9.
Polly is well known in the town for her work with previous bands such as Newton’s Apple and the Polly Violet Collective, and while she has other musical projects on the go, including being the latest member of Hobo Chang, she's always been a prolific songwriter.
The album was recorded by Polly herself in a temporary studio using a laptop and a few microphones and while she originally only intended to record a couple of songs, she decided to do the entire album using the same techniques.
This project showcases a collection of new songs written by Polly over the last year covering topics from mental health issues and the political climate to Donald Trump and the trials of being a solo musician.
And as well as raising her songwriting profile once again, 50 per cent of the profits from the physical sales of the record will be donated to a charity set up by Polly's godmother, African Village School Fund, which raises money to help a small community in Swaziland.
Her next appearance in the town will be as part of the Big Sunday event that takes place in and around the St Botolph's area of Colchester on July 2.
