HUNDREDS of proud scouts will don their uniforms for a parade through Colchester to mark St George's Day.

Youngsters from across the district will muster at the Britannia car park, in Britannia Way, at 2pm on Sunday, April 23.

The parade will wind its way along St John's Street and through the High Street, making its way past the town hall at around 2.30pm, where Scout chiefs will take the salute with mayor.

The colourful procession will then carry on to Castle Park, where a service will be held.

The High Street will be closed to traffic on Sunday to make way for the parade.

Duncan Kury, parade marshall and leader of the 12th Colchester Cubs, said: "The parade is always very well supported.

"We are looking forward to it, I think as Colchester is a military town there is a bit more interest and pride."
