A WOODEN footbridge was set on fire this morning in Great Notley.
Braintree firefighters were sent to Highclere Road, Great Notley, at about 7am.
Firefighters put the fire out using a hosereel jet.
Significant damage was caused to the bridge, which is located near to the Great Notley Recreation Ground.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
The bridge is the responsibility of Braintree Council who have been made aware of the incident by Great Notley Parish Council.
Braintree Council has been approached for comment.
