A MOTORIST has been banned from driving for a THIRD time - even though he is only 26.

Charlie Roberts was warned if he commits any more crimes he will be jailed after appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Roberts, 26, of Clayton Road, Ramsey, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance.

He was caught in Fronks Road and Valley Road, Dovercourt, on February 18 and pretended he was the passenger.

Henny Tatum, prosecuting, said: “Police spotted the white Ford Transit with a defective rear light.

“The defendant stopped and slid from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat.

“He said he was not driving, a friend of his was. Then he was arrested.”

Roberts had been banned from driving in October 2015 after reaching 12 points on his licence.

While a six month ban was imposed he was caught, in February 2016, driving while disqualified and without insurance and was banned for a year.

Before the ban was completed he was caught committing the same offences again, in February. District Judge Susan Holdham banned him from driving for another six months.

She sentenced him to three months in jail suspended it for a year.

He was ordered to pay a £200 fine for having no insurance and his licence will be endorsed. He was also ordered to pay £200 in costs and charges.
