A CRISPS producer has bagged a deal with top retail groups in the Far East.

Fairfields Farm, based in Wormingford outside Colchester, has signed contracts with two major retail groups in Hong Kong.

Three containers of Lentil Lites and Tortillas, totalling between 45,000 and 50,000 bags of hand-cooked crisps, are already on their way.

These will be distributed to nearly 5,000 stores in Hong Kong and China.

Given export sales currently make up 20 per cent of Fairfields Farm's overall sales, the new deals are proof of the demand for high-quality crisps and snacks overseas.

Robert Strathern, co-founder of Fairfields Farm, said: “These are major deals for us.

“Our export sales are a huge part of our business and there is a now a growing appetite for quality snacks from countries all over the world.

"Our vegetable and lentil crisps in particular are proving very popular with more health-conscious buyers.”
