A COFFEE shop spent the day serving pancakes to raise money for a little girl with cancer.

Cool Beans in Bank Street, Braintree, chose to support two-year-old Breya Ward in her battle with a stomach tumour.

Breya's parents, Ollie Ward and Holly Robinson, from Colchester, are hoping to raise £250,000 to send her to America for treatment.

Rachel Wheeler, a friend of the family who works at Cool Beans, said: "Breya is a little fighter, being two years old and going through all that is more than what most adults will go through in their whole life, but she's still smiling and her parents are so happy."

Breya was diagnosed in January and is being treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Her parents, who live off Berechurch Road, have not left her side.

The coffee shop wanted to turn Shrove Tuesday into a fundraising day for little Breya.

Ross McMillan, owner, said: "Customers made donations for the pancakes and all that money went to Breya's charity.

"It's always nice to help local people and children who are in need."

Breya is bravely battling her illness but pioneering immunotherapy treatment Anti-GD2, which is not freely available in the UK, could be what saves her life.
