A CARE worker has denied conning one of her clients out of £500.
Lisa Jensen, 46, of Point Clear Bay, Clacton, appeared before Colchester magistrates charged with theft and fraud by false representation.
It is alleged she stole a blank cheque from the victim, aged 92, at his home in Braintree while acting as his carer.
Jensen is also charged with attempting to cash a second stolen cheque having allegedly changed the amount from £50 to £500.
The court heard Jensen had discussed her financial difficulties with the victim who offered to loan her £50 by way of a cheque.
When later checking his bank statements, the victim realised a £500 withdrawal had been made which he claims was not in keeping with their arrangement.
However, Jensen said the amount was agreed. She denied both charges.
Jensen will be next appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on June 19.
