A MUM is raising funds for her son who is paralysed from the chest down.

Brookin Johnson, from Gosfield, has suffered from Fibromyalgia for 15 years.

The 30-year-old, of Church Road, struggles with pain and stiffness in his muscles.

In March last year he collapsed and has since suffered life-threatening conditions in Stoke Mandeville hospital.

His mum, Jackie Rainbird, is raising funds to send him for stem cell treatment abroad.

She said: "Because of his strong mind he has that will to live life walking again.

"I have to see he gets the best possible chance to do that."

Whilst in hospital he has survived kidney infections and septicaemia.

However the family is not giving up.

Ms Rainbird said: "Last week was his first time in four months he was out of bed and into rehabilitation.

"He was placed in a harnessed stand up frame, which he loves, it makes him feel tall again.

"We all have faith in him and he has such amazing support through his friends and family.

"It's giving him great hope knowing just how many people are right behind him.

"I'm so grateful , it's so encouraging and I thank everyone for helping us."
