A LORRY driver died following what has been described as a “medical episode”.

Michael Renton, who was 60 and from Clacton, died at the scene despite the efforts of ambulance personnel to save his life.

Emergency services were called to the B1070 Manningtree Road, near the junction with Cordwinders, East Bergholt, at 9am on Friday following reports a lorry had come off the road.

Michael’s partner Annette said: “Our Mickey was the most precious gift ever given to all his family and friends.

“Whether it be fishing, watching the Grand Prix or Dad’s Army, he would be in his element.

“He had touched the hearts of everyone around him and he will be forever missed by all.

“He may never have had his own children but he will always be a dad to Bram, Scott, Neil and Alice, as well as a proud grandad to baby George, Stephen, Paige, Cameron, Nate and Esmai. He will be sorely missed.”

Part of the B1070 was closed while emergency services dealt with the situation.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service, said: “We dispatched the hazardous area response team, an ambulance officer, ambulance crew and a medical response car.

“A man was treated after suffering a medical episode in the vehicle and sadly, despite the best efforts of everyone involved, he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Witnesses are asked to call Suffolk Police’s Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference CAD 63 of November 11.
