AS another very successful Colchester Comedy Festival draws to a close, there's still plenty of time to have a few laughs.

The undoubted highlight of the last weekend has to be the final of the Colchester New Comedian of the Year, which will take place at the Colchester Arts Centre on Sunday from 2pm.

Following the three heats, which for the first time took place in the gorgeous intimate space of the Mercury Studio Theatre, there will be ten finalists in all battling for the trophy, a cash prize, and of course the glory of being named Colchester New Comedian of the Year!

The headline act for the event will be Harriet Dyer while MCing proceedings will be Philip Simon with a little help from last year’s winner Cheekytita.

Doors open at 1.30pm and tickets are priced £8 and £6.50 for concessions.

Before that there's the already sold out recording of Sorry I Haven't Got a Clue taking place at Charter Hall tonight, and one of the most unique stand-ups on the UK circuit, Simon Munnery at the Colchester Arts Centre.

Tomorrow there's a couple of comedy workshops taking place at the Minories at 11am for 11 to 15 year-olds, and then at 2pm for adults, and Darren Gooding will be conducting another of his comedy tours as 'A Mayor of Colchester'. That takes place at 2pm and 4pm from the Town Hall, although places must be booked in advance from the arts centre on 01206 500900.
