FANS heading to Lionel Richie's show are being urged to book a parking space to avoid searching All Night Long.

Most tickets for the music legend's concert on Saturday are now sold out, and parking spots near the Weston Homes Community Stadium are at a premium.

The majority of available spaces are at Ardleigh Park and Ride, off Old Ipswich Road, Ardleigh, which can take around 4,000 cars.

Colchester Park and Ride in Cuckoo Farm Way will set aside 800 pre-booked spaces for the event but these are sold out.

Matt Hudson, spokesman for the stadium, said: "I would urge people to get here in good time and be aware there could be a road closure in Boxted Road after the show, so people might have to walk a bit further for taxis.

"Ardleigh will be selling permits on the day but I would advise people to book online."

The stage has now been set up at the ground and preparations are underway for hospitality guests, who stumped up £150 to £200 for the best seats and a three-course-meal before the show.

Mr Hudson added: "It will be really good - lots of people had such a good time at Elton John and we hope everyone enjoys themselves on Saturday."

Essex Highways has published a warning on its website to say traffic will be heavier than normal at the start and end of the event.

Doors open at 5pm and Corinne Bailey-Rae will warm up the crowd from 7.45pm.

Lionel will take to the stage at 8.45pm.

Fans can hop on one of ten shuttle buses in constant rotation from the park and ride sites from 4.30pm.

Shuttle buses will also start running from Bruff Close near Colchester North Station at 4.30pm.

The last bus is due to leave the stadium at half past midnight.

Traffic from the stadium car park will be held for 45 minutes after the show while pedestrians leave the venue.
