DARTS legend Bobby George has come out in favour of the UK remaining inside the European Union.

Mr George, who lives in Ardleigh, has written an open letter calling on voters to "see common sense".

In it, the former world champion states: "I tend to steer clear politics, but tomorrow’s vote genuinely is one of the most important decisions we will make in a generation.

"And given all the risks we face if we leave, for me the common sense answer is to vote Remain this week."

He adds: "I know from experience you can achieve much more by working together.

"Darts is an individual sport, but it’s only possible to do well with a core team of supporters around you.

"And the same is true for Britain in Europe. We are stronger working together with other countries, with the ability to travel, work and play sport easily right across the continent."

The letter adds: "The truth is that no one knows what would happen if we left.

"The only thing that is certain is that it would be a messy divorce.

"And so far those leading the Leave campaign cannot tell us what voting out will look like. That to me seems like too big a gamble to take."
