Here's a round-up of some of the roadworks being carried out across Colchester this week. 

  • WORKS to install new BT connections could cause traffic delays.

Stop and go boards are being used to control traffic in Mersea Road, Colchester, between Napier Road and Fairfax Road.

The work is expected to be finished on May 5.

In Butt Road, Colchester, one lane is closed from the junction with Le Cateau Road to Water Tower so BT can install a new customer connection.

Work is expected to continue until May 5.

  • TWO-WAY traffic lights will be in place while gas maintenance work is carried out.

The work is being carried out in Berechurch Hall Road, Colchester, by the National Grid, to replace old iron gas mains with plastic pipes.

It will continue until May 10.

  • A LANE will be closed while a new gas mains is connected.

Delays will be likely in Mill Road, Colchester, until May 4 while the work is carried out by Gas Transportation Co.

The works will affect the pathway and the carriageway.

  • A CYCLE lane will be decommissioned and replaced with an unsegregated footpath and cycle path.

Work is now underway beneath the North Colchester railway bridge in Station Way, Colchester, and will continue until May 20.

Essex Highways have warned traffic delays will be likely during the works.

  • TWO-WAY traffic lights will be in place while a new gas service is connected.

Delays are likely in Hythe Quay until April 29 while Independent Pipelines carry out work, affecting the pathway and carriageway outside Granary Court.

  • A ROAD will remain closed until the first week of May while maintenance work is carried out.

Wivenhoe Road in Alresford closed on April 18 for maintenance works by Essex Highways and will not open until May 6.

Drivers are being diverted along the B1027 and Station Road.

Wivenhoe Road to St Osyth Road, in Alresford, will be closed until May 6 while pre-surface dressing patching works are undertaken.

Alresford Road in Wivenhoe, from Keelers Lane to Wivenhoe Road, will also be closed for the same works and will re-open on May 5.

  • DRIVERS could face delays on the A120 while works are carried out by Highways England.

Lane one has closed for repairs on the westbound A120, between the junctions with the A136 and the A12.

The works, which started at 8pm on Sunday, are expected to finish at 6am this Friday.

  • A FOOTPATH will be converted into an unsegregated cycle path and footpath.

Mile End Road, from the junction with Bruff Close to the junction with Braiswick Lane, will have works in place until May 13.

Delays will be likely and two-way traffic lights have been in place since work started on February 29.
