Firefighters attended the scene near Braintree
A DISTRESSED horse was trapped for almost two hours after falling into a ditch in a village near Braintree.
Four fire crews went to the scene in Shalford Road, Panfield, just after 6pm yesterday.
Firefighters, including the brigade's animal rescue unit, managed to pull the horse free just after 7.45pm.
Police and a local vet helped crews at the scene. The road was closed during the incident.
