A FOLK group treated Southend to some Easter music last weekend.

South Essex ensemble, the Yardarm Folk Orchestra, played at Southend's Bandstand, in Priory Park, off Victoria Avenue, on Easter Sunday.

The band has appeared at Leigh Folk Festival, Tenterden Folk Festival in Kent as well as other high profile events in the region, including spots at the Cliffs Pavilion, and the London Palladium.

Priory Park usually plays host to music events during the summer, but this one was specially arranged for Easter.

Lib Dem Mary Betson, who is responsible for tourism at Southend Council, said: “Southend bandstand in our beautiful Priory Park is a really well-loved destination for residents and visitors.

“We are were very pleased to introduce this Easter Sunday concert as an added highlight."

Concerts are held throughout the summer between 2pm and 5pm. The next will be on Sunday, May 1 from Thundersley Brass Band.
