HOME secretary Theresa May has sent her condolences to the family of Nick Alexander who was killed in the Paris attacks.

Colchester's MP Will Quince spoke about the tragedy in the House of Commons on Monday.

Addressing Mrs May he said: "Can you assure the House you will do all you can to work with the French authorities to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice?"

Mrs May said: "I join with you in sending our condolences to the family and friends of your constituent Nick Alexander, who was brutally murdered in the attacks that took place in Paris last week.

"Somebody just going about his business, which was about providing enjoyment and fun to other people, particularly to young people, and yet was mown down in this way.

"I can give you an absolute assurance we are giving every assistance we can to the French authorities, and others in Europe, in ensuring we can bring those who played any part in this attack to justice."

The Home Secretary said she would be lobbying her counterparts across Europe for tighter gun laws, and told the Commons that reviews of Friday night's attacks were under way to make sure any lessons available could be learnt by the British police and security services.

Prime Minister David Cameron will make a further Commons statement on the attacks and the G20 meeting in Turkey today.

Nick, 36, whose family come from Weeley, was the only Briton to have died in the attacks.
