A CELEBRATION of the swinging Sixties is the latest musical project by Colchester singer Helen Abbey.

The 60’s BritPop Girls Show presents a celebration of the songs and stories of the big four British female pop stars of the swinging sixties.

Supported by an acclaimed live band, Helen sings the hits of Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, Lulu, and Sandie Shaw, featuring classic hits like, Anyone Who Had A Heart, I Only Want To Be With You, Always Something There To Remind Me, and To Sir With Love.

Helen’s background has always been in performing.

She graduated from the Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama with a diploma in performing arts before starting her singing career with the Swing Sisters, an acapella close-harmony group regularly performing at London's The Ritz Hotel.

Three albums later Helen's singer career led to international collaborations and tours, and numerous sessions for BBC Radio. Today her music is loved and played worldwide from Brazil to Denmark, Japan to the Philippines.

For this show she is joined by local guitar legend, Trevor Durrant, former owner of Trevor Durrant’s Guitar Centre in Colchester. The rest of the band is made up from the best established musicians in the region and features Matt Keane on keyboards and Alex Best on drums (from The Nat King Cole Show) and Charles Rickards on bass.
