• Moonlight, Music and Creatures of the Night, Abbotts Hall Farm, Great Wigborough, Friday, 7.15pm. 01621 862960. Essex Wildlife Trust puts on an evening with a difference with a guided walk taking in the night time sights and sounds of the nature reserve followed by a supper and then live music from Essex folk duo Crafting for Foes.

• Onesie Runsie, Castle Park, Colchester, Sunday, 9am to 12pm. 01206 547616. www.headwayessex.org.uk Pretty much what it says it is, a run which you do in your Onesie but to raise money for the Headway Essex charity which offers brain injury care and support.

• Village Film Festival, Polstead Village Hall, Heath Road, Polstead, Friday, 7.30pm (Battle of Britain) and Saturday, 4pm (Tales of Beatrix Potter). 01206 322328. The final weekend of this year’s very successful Village Film Festival, which for the first time has included Wivenhoe. For the last few showings the highlights take place in Polstead with a Sixties classic in Guy Hamilton’s Battle of Britain and a treat for all the family in the Tales of Beatrix Potter.
