A FIRE engulfed a derelict engine shed in Wivenhoe.
Crews were called to the scene in Station Road shortly before midnight.
On arrival they found the 15 metre by 30 metre building was totally alight.
Incident Commander Pete Donovan said: "On arrival, crews were faced with a well developed fire which had engulfed the entire building.
"Three crews were originally sent to the scene, but on arrival the aerial ladder platform was ordered to help fight the fire from above.
"Crews were tackling the fire using two main jets, one hose reel jet and a monitor on the aerial ladder platform."
The fire was out by 1.40am but crews remained at the scene for 30 minutes to dampen down.
