A GROUP of golfers challenged themselves to play four rounds in one day to raise money for charity.

Don Miller, 63, Terry Skornia, 62, Geoff Backhouse, 58, and Alan Cole, 65, who are all senior members at Playgolf in Colchester, spent yesterday playing the club’s 18-hole course four times.

With the team name Four Shades of Grey, the group teed off at 5am as part of Macmillan’s national Longest Day Golf Challenge.

They did not use a golf buggy, instead choosing to walk about 17 miles.

Mr Cotes said: “Macmillan has a place in everybody’s hearts and minds for the good that they do.

“My family and friends have had first-hand experience of what good they do.

“I just wanted to give something back and this is the aim of all the team. This was a major challenge for us and will allow us to raise some money and awareness for Macmillan by doing something we all enjoy.”
