A wheelchair-bound woman has hit out at a hospital after a five-week stay which she described as a "nightmare".
Woolfie Allen, 38, was admitted to the new Fryatt Hospital, in Dovercourt, for treatment to a condition which has left her confined to a wheelchair for life.
But she said that after being trapped in electric doors, stuck in corridors and unable to shower, she felt distressed the hospital could not cater better for disabled patients.
She said the basic requirements for people in her condition were missing or inadequate at the brand-new hospital.
She said: "I realise that hospital staff have a tough job to do, but the experience should not have left me feeling my dignity had been taken away - and that's just how I felt."
A spokesman for Realise Health, the company responsible for building the new hospital, said the hospital had been designed to the Disability Discrimination Act requirements.
