Children at a Colchester nursery will be able to learn from their garden all year round, thanks to help from Essex Wildlife Trust.

Staff from the trust helped staff and children at Childsplay Day Nursery on Clarendon Way, Colchester, to revamp their current garden.

About 30 children who attend the nursery spent the day putting in new plants to create the all year garden.

Sarah Day, manager at the nursery, said: "We have had a garden all year and in the summer it looks absolutely wonderful.

"But in the winter, although the children can still run around it, there's nothing for them to learn from.

"Now we've got a sensory area, a discovery area and a musical area which covers the whole curriculum for the three to five-year-olds."
