Youngsters are looking set for a summer of skating.
After the success of the skateboard park days last summer, Michael Dew, a Tendring district councillor, was determined to secure a more permanent place for skaters.
After a generous donation from Tendring Council, he said the prospect of a skatepark looked good.
"Within days of writing to Tendring Council they came up with half the £4,000 needed for the equipment, which shows a great commitment to provide better facilities for children.
"They have also indicated that they would help out once the project gets under way," Mr Dew said.
Mr Dew helped to secure ramps and half pipes last summer after touring schools and asking youngsters what they wanted to see in their area.
A skateboard park was top of the list.
With financial support from town and parish councils, equipment was installed at the Venture Centre, Lawford, for two skate days which were packed with youngsters.
This year a site near Mistley is close to being secured.
