Companies hoping to relocate to a new industrial park have been dealt a major blow.

Planning consultants for the East of England have decided to call in the decision to approve the Horsley Cross development.

The project, which was given the green light by Tendring Council last year, is due to see a number of Tendring businesses move to a site south of the A120 and west of the B1035 at Horsley Cross.

But the Government planning team Go East yesterday contacted the partnership to tell them the scheme will have to go to a planning inquiry.

The date for that inquiry is yet to be confirmed, but it is certain to delay the scheme from going ahead for some months at least.

Gary Rowe, director of Parkeston-based company Express, one the companies involved, said: "We will get there but it will take a bit longer."

No-one was available from Go East for comment.
