An emergency sea wall repair scheme which cost Tendring Council £350,000 could still attract a Government grant.
A 60-metre section of defences at Holland-on-Sea failed at the end of January, and there were fears that there could be more problems if action was not taken.
Tendring Council gave the all-clear for the emergency work to stabilise and reinforce the defences.
A project appraisal report reveals that the scheme is eligible to be considered for grant aid from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).
The council hopes to claim the cash back and has submitted an application.
The work is on course to be completed by early June. The pinning is complete, the contractor has filled behind the wall and begun driving the new base of the wall.
