ATTACK helicopters, parachutists and military bands will take over Colchester’s Abbey Field.
The Colchester Garrison Show returns on Saturday, July 4, with the Parachute Regiment’s Red Devils making an entrance from the skies. It is the second time the show has been staged, the last time being in 2013.
This year’s event will support Colchester Nepalese Society’s fundraising for victims of the Nepal earthquakes with bucket collections being held. The event itself will be free. Col Gary Wilkinson, commander of Colchester Garrison, said: “The Nepalese community is a significant part of the local population, both military and civilian, and it is important we all support their efforts to rebuild their home country. The showwill also be a chance to see 16 Air Assault Brigade in action.” Alongside the show, runners will take part in the Paras’ 10, a ten-mile run which sees people carrying a 35lb rucksack and wearing boots.
Active Essex will host a schools’ and families’ athletics competition.
