FIVE creative people from Glasgow have scooped £30,000 prizes at an arts awards ceremony.
The prizes, handed out at the Scottish Arts Council's annual Creative Scotland Awards, will be spent on major art projects.
Glasgow-based people won half of the 10 lottery-funded prizes in a huge boost for the city's thriving arts scene.
Playwright Peter Arnott will use the cash for a trilogy of plays about the end of the world.
Visual artist Henry Coombes will produce a short film, while Kenny Hunter will produce sculpture "examining the monster within the Scottish psyche".
Composer John Maxwell Geddes will write music for a professional ensemble, while visual artist Simon Yuill will create an exhibit with the help of highland communities.
The five were presented with their awards last night at Prestonfield House in Edinburgh.
Culture Minister Patricia Ferguson said: "These awards serve to recognise and nurture Scotland's future creative talent.
"The 10 artists display a variety of talents and huge creative ambitions."
