Children are to have their spirits raised with a police-organised Easter egg hunt.

Police community support officers are planning a fun day for youngsters living in the Balkerne Heights estate, Colchester, following the death of Lisa Sweeney.

The 34-year-old mum of eight was found dead at her home in the estate's Henry Laver Court last Wednesday.

Town centre PCSOs Helen Calver and Alison Howe came up the community-rebuilding plan.

PCSO Howe, who has three children, said: "The residents there have suffered much doom and gloom, shock and horror over the last few days and the children there have been affected badly.

"To see some laughter in the vicinity will be a great uplift for both the children and adults alike.

"This may not take away what has happened, but it will hopefully make the children in the area realise they can still be happy and enjoy themselves."

  • A time and date are yet to be arranged.
