Two Essex organisations are celebrating their very own big lottery win.

Doucecroft School's further education department, in Kelvedon, and the Colchester Furniture Project are among five organisations in Essex and Hertfordshire sharing £674,115 from the fund's Reaching Communities programme.

A £75,000 donation to the furniture project, in St Botolph's Street, Colchester, means it will be able to continue providing free recycled household furniture and white goods to disadvantaged people and families.

Autistic teenagers are to enjoy more activities thanks to a £36,363 grant to Doucecroft School.

Manager Barbara Morrison said: "This grant will enable us to purchase a seven-seater vehicle for use at our further education department near Colchester for young adults with autism."
