Police are hunting conmen who stole life savings from a frail pensioner.

The 76-year-old was left "shaken" after the incident, which happened at her home in Greenstead Road, Colchester, at 8pm on Thursday.

Detectives said the victim, who lives alone, opened the door to two men who duped their way into the woman's house using a "complex distraction technique".

They then stole hundreds of pounds in cash, her purse and pension book before fleeing the scene.

Police were called after the tearful woman realised she had been burgled.
