ALMOST 90 per cent of bus users in Essex are satisfied with the service, according to a survey by a transport research group.

Passenger Focus surveyed 47,000 passengers across England and Scotland and covered 49 bus companies.

Essex’s 87 per cent overall customer satisfaction rate is an improvement on last year, when the county scored 83 per cent.

A total of 85 per cent of people were happy with routes and 88 per cent were happy with the speed of the service and overall performance of the drivers.

Rodney Bass, the councillor responsible for highways and transportation at Essex County Council, said: “Overall, the survey shows the bus services are coping well with the demands and needs of passengers, while also highlighting areas where clear improvements can be made.”

A consultation into the future for Essex bus services will last until March 31.
