A NEW appeal has been launched to find a drugs kingpin believed to be responsible for major deals in Colchester.

Paul Monk, 54, is wanted in connection with a number of drug deals and has been named as one of the top ten fugitives wanted by the National Crime Agency and Crimestoppers who are believed to have fled to Spain.

Monk, originally from Romford, is alleged to be linked to the seizure of 23 kilos of herbal cannabis and a kilo of cannabis resin in Colchester in October 2013.

He is also wanted in connection with the handover of a kilo of cocaine in Cockfosters, London, in May 2013.

The appeal is part of an attempted crackdown on English fugitives known as Operation Captura.

Lord Ashcroft, founder and chairman of Crimestoppers said: “It has proved a high success since it was launched in 2006.

“The majority of individuals have been captured however there are still a number evading arrest.

“We must ensure they are brought to justice.”

Hank Cole, head of international operations for the National Crime Agency, added: “Spain is not a safe haven for British fugitives.

“The NCA and its partners will continue to pursue these individuals relentlessly and return them to the UK to face justice.”

65 of the 86 identified in the past nine years have been caught.

Call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you have any information about Monk.
