ROYAL Marine Commando Andy Baker is taking on the London Marathon for Leukaemia Care in memory of his dad.
Andy, 28, from Brightlingsea, is taking on the challenge as a tribute to his dad, Roger Baker, who battled with non-Hodgkin lymphoma for four years before his death in January 1999.
Roger was a postman in Great Bentley and a memorial bench in his honour was installed on the village green.
Andy has already smashed his fundraising target of £1,800, raising £1,908 through events.
He said: “My dad and I were best mates. Even during his hardest struggle with the disease, he was always at my football matches, school trips and there for the family at every opportunity.
“I’m glad the money raised will be helping to support patients and their families through the disease.”
