THIS year’s Marks Tey point-to-point race meeting is going ahead – despite fears rising costs would finish the popular annual equestrian event.

The organisers say they have managed to cut costs so the March 14 meeting can go ahead.

Sally Greenlees, secretary of the East Essex Point-to- Point Committee, said: “We have done a lot of cost-cutting in a big effort to make it a profitable meeting with a great future.

“People can expect seven high-quality steeplechase races and two pony races.

“There will be trade stands and Alan Coe will be there with his carriage and horses.”
