COLCHESTER’S MP Sir Bob Russell has renewed his call for the rate of VAT on tourism to be cut from 20 per cent – the second highest in Europe – to five per cent.
The Lib Dem wants the measure included in next month’s Budget.
He said research showed if VAT was cut it would generate more than 200 jobs and boost the local economy.
