We help people living in and around Colchester and Tendring with a variety of different mental health problems, such as:
• Mood problems e.g Low self-esteem, Depression or Interpersonal problems (click here for more details)
• Anxiety e.g. Phobias, Panic Attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Social Anxiety and Shyness, Health Anxiety or Excessive Worries (click here for more details)
• Traumatic Stress (click here for more details) We are only trained to help with these specific problems. Your GP can suggest other avenues of treatment for you if Health in Mind is not suitable.

You must be registered, or be intending to register with a GP in the area to use Health in Mind, although we won't necessarily contact them if you don't want us to.

Find your nearest community service or GP surgery You will also need access to a phone or be able to attend one of our community based venues for treatment and assessment. Please see our website at www.healthmind.org.uk or call us on 0300 3305455 What will happen when I ask for help from Health in Mind?

If you or your doctor has decided that you could benefit from the service that Health in Mind provides, then our first step will be to talk to you to find out how best we can help you. The way we decide this is by looking at the information we have from you and by having one of our trained therapists talk to you on the phone.

How long will I have to wait to be seen?

We will usually contact you within one week of you contacting us. We are closed evenings and weekends however, so this might make it a little longer.

Once we are able to speak to you, we will aim to arrange an assessment with you within 2 weeks. When you begin treatment after that depends on what type will be best for you. For example if you have been referred to a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) we aim to assign you to someone within 10 days but if you will be receiving psychological (talking) therapies like CBT, you might have to wait a while longer.

If you are on a waiting list we will encourage you to get in touch if your situation has changed.

Who are we? Health in Mind is run by Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Colchester Mind. Together we use our expertise to offer a wide range of talking treatments (sometimes called 'psychological therapies') to help people with a variety of different mental health problems.

How can Health in Mind Therapies help? What can I expect?

You will need to be aware that our service is aimed at working alongside you to learn about different ways to view your difficulties and to learn new ways to approach these difficulties. Health in Mind Therapies are about changes you want to make and we work together. This is what we call an ‘active’ talking therapy as it involves more than talking. You will be expected to do more than just attend your appointments. Most of the work you do will be between appointments and is what will help you to achieve the best results faster.
