HUNDREDS of soldiers paraded in Colchester to mark the end of their brigade's service in Afghanistan.
Around 1,000 soldiers from 16 Air Assault Brigade paraded at Colchester's Merville Barracks today.
Troops from the brigade were among the first and last to serve on operations in southern Afghanistan.
Colchester-based paratroopers led the first major deployment into Helmand in 2006 while its Apache attack helicopters, based at Wattisham, were deployed continuously until British combat operations ended in November 2014.
