A slide which was crushed by a falling tree it has been replaced.
The slide, on the Welcome Home Field in New Road, Mistley, was damaged beyond repair when the tree on neighbouring land was felled by strong winds last year.
Trustees for the field were left to pick up the bill for the repair and now a replacement slide has been put up at the field, along with a new seat and litter bin.
The project cost a total of £12,500, £9,500 of which came from the Big Lottery Fund, with the Essex Rural Fund chipping in the rest.
Trustees’ chairman Alan Coley said: “It is unfortunate we lost the previous slide after it was damaged by a neighbour’s tree coming down.
“The former slide was bigger, but you can’t get slides like that any more.
“We are really pleased with it and we are grateful for getting funding.”
