Youth football club officials say they fear for its future because the sports centre where it has been based for more than 20 years is closing.
St Edmunds Youth FC has played at the Colchester Academy’s sports centre since the club was formed in 1991.
The academy has announced the centre, in Hawthorn Avenue, Greenstead, will close next month because it is in need of expensive structural repairs the school cannot afford.
The football club runs six teams, from under-sevens to under-11s, with has 74 boys and girls on its books.
Its director of football, Darren Maiden, is angry the club was given so little notice of the closure.
