A dad-of-two who had acid thrown in his face in a case of mistaken identity had described the horror of seeing his face melting after the attack.

Two men chucked acid over Wayne Ingold, 56, as he went to check his post at a block of flats in Bramble Road, Witham, last month.

He said initially thought it was juice but soon felt horrific pain.

He ran back to his flat while one of the men continued to spray the harmful liquid at the back of his head.

“I looked at myself in the mirror and it looked like my face was turning yellow and it looked like it was melting,” he told the Times.

“It was like running knives were stabbing me all over.”
